I've never had a job. What do I put in the employment section?

What applicants with no work history should do when an order includes employment verification, and what employers should do next.

Written by Charlie Cafazza

You cannot skip the employment section, and you cannot finish the application by leaving it blank.

If you have never had a job, and this order includes employment verification, contact the employer who sent you the invitation. Tell them you have no work history. The employer can cancel this order and place a new one without employment verification. The employer is refunded for the employment verification portion.

Do not enter a fake employer. Do not type N/A. Do not leave the section empty and try to submit. Those options do not work, and the form will not let you continue.

If your problem is only that you do not have a payroll login or pay stubs for a job you did have, that is a different article: I do not have my payroll login or pay stubs. That article does not cover zero work history.

If you are the employer

When an applicant has never been employed and your order includes employment verification, cancel the order and reorder without employment verification. You are refunded for the employment verification portion. The applicant cannot skip the employment section on the existing order.

Email [email protected] or call 1-800-942-1366 if you need help canceling and reordering. Include the applicant email on the order.
